Broad information on use applied for (conditions of use and function): The formulation of the chromium trioxide solution (chromic acid), specifically producing chromic acid from trioxide by the addition of water, is performed in a purpose-built self-contained area and is away from other activities. Chromium trioxide does not have a specific functionality at the formulation (mixing) stage apart from being incorporated into formulations for use by authorised users. The production area is bunded in line with best practice guidance and the mixing and main storage vessel are both enclosed. Any waste that is generated is disposed off-site through the use of registered hazardous waste contractors.
